At Sanctuary Bonsai we collect and grow Bonsai and Pre-Bonsai. We collect from nature and from other growers and Bonsai Artists. Some of the trees offered here were created by other artists, some were field grown or collected here in Connecticut.
There are many offerings from raw material to trees almost ready for ceramic containers. No tree will be sold if it is not in the peak of health.
We will be happy to share the most current information about each tree including it's origin, repotting schedule, and growing preferences.
To not further the free money tree that is Visa and MasterCard, Sanctuary Bonsai accepts checks. A bank check will ship your selection within 48 hours. A personal check will ship your tree in 7 business days.
All trees ship UPS unless oversized, then Fed-ex or via Truck. All shipping charges are at cost.
Packing charges are by the hour and partial hour at $25.00 per hour.
In a former life I was a Packaging Engineer and can easily pack any tree for proper transit.

New An old Shimpaku juniper root over rock style. This is a very mature tree and has had years of training. The red rock is unusual, but that's what caught my eye. Very green and healthy. It's growth pattern lends me to think it's itiogawa but I'm not positive. $350 plus packing and shipping.

This clump style Ficus salicifolia, Willow Leaf Ficus, was a demonstration tree I did for the Hartford Club in 2003. The main tree was a purchase with the 4 smaller trees being made from cuttings. The idea was to fuse the bases together into one plant. That has occurred and rather nicely. The ceramic container measures 16" side to side. This tree delights in defoliation which has lead to the wonderful ramification seen here.
$275 plus packing and shipping.

This is a shot after repotting in Spring 2011.

A close -up of the base. All the trees are completely fused under the
soil line.
The base continues to swell and merge.

This Willow Leaf Ficus was a stump I shipped home from a Florida business trip in 2003. It was a double trunk and first I air-layered the tops off. The tree developed hundreds of buds which required a tweezer to sort out. This tree has been wired and unwired every year and has developed into a very nice Ficus. Nick Lenz pot. Southerners, please inquire! This tree would love to live in the South again!

New This Cypress of unknown specific variety just came in on consignment.
The words Golden Cypress were used, but I'm not convinced. It needs a new owner to appreciate it.
It has great attributes. It has been maintained as a Bonsai for many years and only recently left to "fluff" out. The Nebari is very cool. The truck movement is wonderful. The age of the tree is backed by the age of the ceramic drum pot which holds it. The pot has seen so many Winters that many of the bumps have popped off due to frost.
This is a "style it this year and repot next Spring to get a high quality Bonsai very soon" project. $325 plus packing and shipping

I tipped the tree back with a 4" pot to give you a better look at the trunk line and branch structure.
